Filet Mignon Recipe

Filet mignon is always a treat. This delicious cut of beef is so tender, you can often cut filet with a fork. Syndicated columnist Rita Heikenfeld shows you how to cook a pan roasted filet mignon with her filet recipe. Start the filet mignon in a skillet to sear in the flavor and then move it to the oven for about 5 minutes. This is one of our favorite ways to cook a filet that comes out perfectly every time. Pair this filet mignon with an appetizer of shrimp cocktail and you’ve got a wonderful romantic meal.

OMG that is A LOT of oil !! I cook my steak without any oil in the pan, I simply rub my steak with the oil prior to putting it in the pan.

i have to give mi opinion. using a fork to turn the meat is not a good idea. you have to treat your meat with care. and wash hands people!!!

put oil in when the pan is hot not before and even better… put oil on steak and then in hot pan! Also… too much oil for me! Not that i’m on a diet or anything, i just don’t like it so fatty!

The point is to sear it, not deep fry it! This isn’t your basic McDonalds meal here! I’d say maybe a couple teaspoons should do the job. I have a friend that doesn’t use any at all!

I would have to agree, way, way too much oil. Plus handling the meat, then the salt and pepper mills without washing her hands. Yikes.

You’re not supposed to salt a filet before you cook it. Adding salt brings the moisture to the top and makes the filet more dry.

shouldn’t scrape a non-stick pan with fork, Teflon will scratch and teflon will get into food and then we have a toxic pan.

You shouldn’t turn filet mignon with a fork, it releases all the juices.
