Haha just like Great Granny Ambrogio every recipe makes about 5000 cookies!!…familys we’re much bigger she was one of seven and had seven of her own! I’ll post the result when I’ve finished tomorrow:)
I’m making them as I type I’m watching because I can’t remember if I have to sift the dry ingreds. The Fig paste is perfect!! Especially with that 18 cups of whiskey!..Just kidding I’ve written this down to the letter:)

Buon Natale
Buone Feste
Those look magnificent! I wish my family was more like this, but my grandmother is getting old and is starting to go, sadly. But maybe one day in the future i will have a family like this! Keep on cooking and keep on keeping on! P.S you’re a lovely cook!
I’m soooo not going to make boring mincemeat pies I’m going to make these!
I’m making these for Christmas. Thank you Clara.
They look so good, but I don’t know if I can make them I don’t have the patience, something about you that I love is that your so patient, doesn’t matter how long it takes, and your videos are amazing, and I can’t stop watching them,Ima ask my mom can she get me your book..I want to read it and your the cutest, and you make me laugh and put a small on my face..when I’m sad the only thing I have to do is come watch your videos..I may be only 12 but your just awesome, and I couldn’t help but subscribe.
Full of knowledge!
LOL! “They’re for when you’re constipated!” Love old people! Something so precious about them!
They just touch my heart!
You’re right! I couldn’t interest my daughter or son in cooking, tho I tried…My son eventually picked up on some but that came on his own. My daughter cooks a little, but not like I do…However, my 7 year old granddaughter loves to cook, so we have a lot of fun!
I can’t stop watching her. I want her cookbook…just sweetness…
They look so delicious
cracks me up how she says ” i have to have a coffee before i cook”….she got her slaves to do he cooking for her:L….
not true.. I am 22, my step son is 10 and I try at every moment to teach, and show him all the old fashion things my grandma used to. Just because some people are bad parents don’t generalize everyone else.
I think this video is one of my favorite “Clara” videos. You show us how important it is teaching children how to “help” I am so sad for the children and teenagers of today. They have grown up learning nothing about the home and everything about how to “ignore” family and home. Thank you for your videos.
The old woman from Colorado.
In the video Clara states One pound of lard but the recipe list on right states one cup of lard. The lard block looks like one pound not one cup. Thanks for taking the time to pass this recipe on. I will give it a try soon.
God Bless you Clara
Thank you so much! I have been looking for a recipe to make these cookies similar to the way my grandma did and It looks as if I’ve finally found it.
Mmm…those look delicious. My Grandma used to make something similar to the fig cookies, except we’d use walnuts instead of figs, and top it off with icing sugar.
It sure brings back memories since they were usually only made around Christmas. I think I’ll be trying your recipe sometime.
