How to clean stainless steel cookware factory polish residue?

For brand new stainless steel cookware, if you run a kitchen towel or tissue over the edge or even the smooth surface, you can wipe off some gray color or charcoal color polish residue, you know what I’m talking about. Especially, at the edge, it is hard to clean them off completely. Don’t know whether they are bad to your health. Anything that can clean them off completely and easily?
It seems, those polish residue is not like grease or oil, it is not hot soap water soluble.

Dish soap and hot water, or run them through a dishwasher. They always recommend washing new kitchenware before using it.
